NFC (Near Field Communication) is not a new word for many who knows about the Google Nexus S. Additional feature that was discussed about the Nexus S was the NFC feature for mobile payments. Now According to Bloomberg report NFC feature coming to iPhone 5 and iPad 2. Apple plans to add a mobile payment feature to future iOS devices. The service, which utilizes a Near-Field Communication chip and a software solution, will be integrated into Apple’s next-generation iPhone and iPad.
The report’s sources for this information are “engineers who are working on hardware for the Apple project.” Apple will supposedly introduce the new NFC-capable devices alongside a new mobile payments service. Whenever a user processes a transaction through Apple’s iTunes, credit card fees are payed by Apple, but with new NFC functionality at their side.
Richard Doherty, director of consulting firm Envisioneering Group said:
Apple Inc. plans to introduce services that would let customers use its iPhone and iPad computer to make purchases. The services are based on “Near-Field Communication,” a technology that can beam and receive information at a distance of up to 4 inches, due to be embedded in the next iteration of the iPhone for AT&T Inc. and the iPad 2, Doherty said. Both products are likely to be introduced this year, he said, citing engineers who are working on hardware for the Apple project.
NFC technology is old and has been adopted by Nokia but it didn’t get much appreciation at that time, now Google Nexus S brings NFC feature but the real game-changer would be Apple iPhone 5 and iPad 2 as said by Doherty.
