One of an Youtube user has uploaded a video showing the new HP TouchPad, this is one of that discounted touchpad that is the 32GB $99 HP TouchPad, but the amazing thing about this is that it have got an Android 2.2 Froyo pre-installed in it rather than it's own WebOS.





According to msacra(YouTube user),

A coworker ordered his HP Touchpad for $99 from bestbuy, this is the 32g, when he got it, it came with android already on it, I just ordered mine, so if anyone knows how android go on it, please let me know.

So this Video might be fake as it is not possible that the company would install Android in it and then sell it, but seeing this picture makes it a little confusing.

There have been reports that Yahoo is considering to launch their first and "Android-Based" Phone in Japan Next Month(September).  And they'll be launching this new phone on the country’s third biggest mobile carrier SoftBank. Yahoo has earned load of fame in Japan and it's now the most  Japan's biggest website, so they are planning to first launch this Phone in Japan.

Google Acquiring Motorola Mobility for $12.5 [Report]

The news has just came out that Google inc. is now buying Motorola Mobility to solve the problem of Android patents and it's only three times more expensive than acquiring the Nortel patents. The price tag for this deal is 12.5 Billion Dollars.Google CEO Larry Page says the acquisition will allow the Internet giant to "supercharge" the entire Android ecosystem and better protect the company from anti-competitive threats.
In its biggest deal to date, Google said it would pay $40 per share in cash, a 63 percent premium to Motorola Mobility's Friday closing price on the New York Stock Exchange.






"Motorola has a history of over 80 years of innovation in communications technology and products, and in the development of intellectual property, which have helped drive the remarkable revolution in mobile computing we are all enjoying today. (...) In 2008, Motorola bet big on Android as the sole operating system across all of its smartphone devices. It was a smart bet and we're thrilled at the success they've achieved so far," says Google's CEO, Larry Page.
Google has offered about $40 per share in cash, a premium of 63 percent over the closing price of Motorola Mobility shares on Friday.
The acquisition of Motorola Mobility will enable Google to "supercharge the Android ecosystem and enhance competition in mobile computing," according to a news release. Google said the deal will not affect how Android is developed, and the operating system will remain open, Google said.
The company will run Motorola Mobility as a separate business, Google said.

As for other phone manufacturers that have invested heavily in Android, Andy Rubin, Google's senior vice president of mobile, said the company's vision for Android to be an open platform and a vibrant open source community remains "unchanged".

Mozilla Working on an Open Source Mobile OS - Boot to Gecko (B2G) Project

So it has finally been revealed that Mozilla also wants to enter the world of Mobile OS's, Their most recent Project which they call it Boot to Gecko (B2G) has now been revealed. This internet browser giant has launched a Boot 2 Gecko(B2G) project. Similar to Firefox B2G is also an open source project which aims to clean up mobile fragmentation.






Unveiled to the public under the mantra “Booting to web” the B2G project is in embryonic stage at this point in time, but taking into consideration the strong support from its large community, this emerging open web platform is bound to move forward quite fast. The emphasis on the new proposed mobile OS will be on standards-based Web technologies as Mozilla’s aim with the OS is to create an environment where web-apps are as, if not more, important than native apps.



Mozilla has definitely Mozilla has launched this new project to build a web based open source Smartphone and Tablet operating system to counter Google’s Chrome OS.


Mozilla researcher Andreas Gal wrote on a blog post that the source code of the operating system will be released to the public in real-time, meaning that developers will be able to get their hands on the updates as and when they are created. According to him:
“We will do this work in the open, we will release the source in real-time, we will take all successful additions to an appropriate standards group, and we will track changes that come out of that process. We aren't trying to have these native-grade apps just run on Firefox, we're trying to have them run on the web,"
Mozilla will be working on following Areas to make this Operating system more perfect,



• New web APIs: build prototype APIs for exposing device and OS capabilities to content (Telephony, SMS, Camera, USB, Bluetooth, NFC, etc.)
• Privilege model: making sure that these new capabilities are safely exposed to pages and applications
• Booting: prototype a low-level substrate for an Android-compatible device;
• Applications: choose and port or build apps to prove out and prioritize the power of the system.
Other than that, If you remember Mozilla also showed off a cellphone prototype submitted to the Mozilla Labs' Concept Series by designer Billy May. Dubbed the Seabird, it explored the idea of an Open Web phone based on Android, with an 8MP camera, two pico-projectors and inductive wireless charging, a Bluetooth/IR dongle. Samsung to Release 1.2 GHz dual-core Galaxy Tab 7 this September?

It has been reported that Samsung is now working on another tablet which they'll release this Autumn. The report claims that this new Tablet might be called as Samsung's new "Galaxy tab 7" and this would supposedly be a successor to the original Galaxy Tab. Which would have the same characteristics as of the Galaxy S II Phone. All the hardware as rumored are same as that of Galaxy S 2 except the Screen.

There will be a USB host connectivity via the proprietary Galaxy Tab connector and might have an HDMI output.


Above was the Hardware for the Galaxy Tab 7, Inside it is claimed that Galaxy Tab 7 will powering Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with TouchWiz 4.0, yes it won't be featuring Honeycomb at the starting. Chinese Android Users Under the Most Mobile Attacks

China received about 64% of the world's mobile attacks on Android devices in the first quarter of 2011, according to a mobile security report released by NetQin Mobile.­ Ranked second on the list is the USA with 7.6%, followed by Russia, India, and Indonesia respectively with 6.1%, 3.4% and 3.2%.
According to NetQin, about 2.53 million Android users were infected with mobile viruses or malware in the first quarter of 2011, with most of them occurring in China, which is partly due to the easy availability of "white box" phones (open phones that are not tied to particular carriers) and a general lack of mobile security awareness among mobile phone users.
"White box" phones often run outdated versions of mobile software and are not provided with security support from legal carriers. The lack of mobile security awareness further adds fuel to the flames, as users often ignore protective measures when engaged in mobile activities, such as using mobile payment channels, web browsing or clicking on URLs from unknown sources, thus allowing more mobile viruses and malware to intrude their mobile devices.
In the consumer pool sampled by NetQin, the reported results of these mobile threats mainly include: malicious fee deduction (up to more than 45%), privacy theft (about 30%), Backdoor (about 12%), fee consumption (about 7%), rogueware (about 5%) and malware that disrupts normal operation of systems (about 1%).
NetQin reports that Android Market is the main source of mobile threats, and is responsible for 57% of them. Other sources include unbranded devices and downloading from WAP and WWW websites.
Most of the infected phones are running Froyo, the Android OS V2.2, accounting for 45% of the total, followed by Eclair (Android OS V2.1) and Gingerbread (Android OS V2.3) respectively with 34% and 16%. The popularity of Froyo devices is probably to blame for its becoming the main target of mobile attacks.
The report also addresses the vulnerability of the Android OS, such as acquisition of root access, weak scrutiny of apps before their entry in to Android Market and the embedding of malware. DroidDream had Google remove more than 50 offending apps from Android Market earlier this year and is a good illustration of the problem.
NetQin purports that future mobile security would rely more on "cloud computing", especially the "Cloud + End" model, which is capable of responding promptly to mobile threats, from data collection and risk ranking to the provision of a final solution.
