Guide: How to tethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad using Redsn0w [How To] [Download]

    As Apple has released the new iOS 4.3.5, which contain fix for some previous Vulnerabilities. It has just been tweeted and confirmed by iPhone Dev Team member MuscluNerd that the new iOS 4.3.5 can be jailbroken on all devices except the iPad 2 just by pointing the tool at the 4.3.4 IPSW.




    @zaone @m1ckey29 ah ok thanks for checking! So those who really do want tethered 4.3.5 can use redsn0w pointed at 4.3.4 (except iPad2)
    Note that since Apple patched comex’s exploit in iOS 4.3.4, this jailbreak will be tethered. It’s still recommended to stick with iOS 4.3.3 for an untethered jailbreak.


    Guide: How to Tethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad


    Note: Those relying on a carrier unlock must stay away from Redsn0w.


    First of All Downlaod the Following:


    iOS 4.3.5 and iOS 4.3.4 for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. [Download link]
    Download Redsn0w 0.9.8b4 for Windows
    Download Redsn0w 0.9.8b4 for Mac
    Download iTunes 10.4 Mac and Windows


    Now lets start the Guide,


    Step 1: So first of all Start Redsn0w, browse for the iOS 4.3.4 firmware file (NOT the 4.3.5) that you downloaded in above and point it towards Redsn0w.


    Step 2: Once Redsn0w is done recognizing the firmware file, click Next, and then check the “Install Cydia” box and leave other options as it is for now. Once done, click Next.


    Step 3: Now just follow Redsn0w, it will instruct you to power down your device and plug it in to your computer. Follow the onscreen instructions and then click Next to continue.


    Step 4:  RedSn0w will now guide you on how to put your device in DFU mode. follow the steps carefully till your device get’s into DFU mode.Follow the simple steps to put your Device into DFU Mode:
    • First of all,Press and Hold the sleep button for 2 seconds.
    • While holding the sleepbutton,Press the Home button for 10 seconds.
    • Now release the sleep button but continue Holding the home button for about 15 seconds. 
    Step 5: One in DFU mode your iPhone will restart, Now, just wait while Redsn0w gets installed and jailbreaks your device. Once finished your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch will restart automatically.


    TrobleShooting:

    Any Windows users seeing “Waiting for reboot” for too long (more than 20 seconds or so), please try “shaking” the JB process by unplugging then replugging your USB cable (while letting redsn0w continue to run). Also, try using a USB port “closer” to your computer (as opposed to on your monitor or behind another hub).

    iPhone Dev Team has now finally released Redsn0w to tethered Jailbreak iOS 5 on iPhone ,iPod Touch and iPad. The recent version was only for Mac and now this time the Windows version has also been released, so you now also Jailbreak on Windows. Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 for Windows can jailbreak iOS 5 Beta on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, 3G & iPad 1. 
    For Your Information: Unlockers especially should stay away from this because restoring to iOS 5.0 will upgrade your baseband (unless you use Sn0wBreeze) and UltraSn0w has not been updated for 5.0 yet.

    Since Apple now provides Windows iTunes 10.5 for iOS5 and iCloud developers, it’s no longer the case that only Mac owners can legitimately activate their devices.  We now provide a Windows version of redsn0w for those developers (only!).
    Including that the Developer of Sn0wbreeze i.e IH8Sn0w has also released updated version of Sn0wbreeze to tethered Jailbreak iOS 5 on Windows. So users have now choice either to use Sn0wbreeze or Reddsn0w to Jailbreak iOS 5.

    Sn0wBreeze is a Windows application that creates a custom ipsw similar to PwnageTool. It will not update your baseband.

    iPhone Dev Team has now finally released an updated version for Redsn0w to tethered Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.  We've recently reported that Hackers have successfully got Jailbreak of iOS 5 Beta the day after it's release. And now the good news is that they have Patched it into the Latest redsn0w and released it for Public.

    According to iPhone Dev Team:
    WWDC 2011 is winding down to a close, and developers of jailbroken apps for Cydia are probably itching to get started on all the iOS 5 goodness.  It seems like a good time to release the tethered redsn0w jailbreak for iOS 5. The following devices are supported:
    • iPod touch 3G
    • iPod touch 4G
    • iPad 1
    • iPhone3GS
    • iPhone4 (GSM)
    • iPhone4 (CDMA)
    UNLOCKERS AND THOSE PRESERVING THEIR UNLOCKABLE BASEBANDS SHOULD STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS! You will very likely lose your unlockable baseband if you try to install iOS 5.
    THIS JAILBREAK IS INTENDED ONLY FOR DEVELOPERS OF JAILBROKEN APPS! There are just too many broken components (Apple’s official apps, 3rd-party App Store apps, Cydia apps, MobileSubstrate apps, etc) for this to be useful to anyone but those truly looking to fix bugs in their iOS 5 jailbroken apps.  (Seriously!)

No new exploits are being exposed with this jailbreak (it uses geohot’s limera1n bootrom exploit), but that comes at a cost.  You will need to use redsn0w to “Just boot tethered now”  to be able to use many things, including Cydia and Safari.  If you see a white icon for Cydia, or if Cydia or Safari crash when you open them, it’s because you didn’t boot tethered.
    The way redsn0w works, you will very likely be able to use this on upcoming iOS5 betas, just by continuing to point redsn0w at the 5.0b1 IPSW.  So keep that IPSW handy!

Download Updated Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC16 and Sn0wbreeze 4.3.3.1 to Fix Bugs and Side Switch Vibration Issue on iPhone 4/ iPhone 3GS [How to]

    iPhone Dev Team has now Updated their Jailbreak tools that is redsn0w has now been updated to RC16 and Pwnage Tool has also been updated to v4.3.3.1. The reason for which they have updated these Jailbreak tools, Is because when your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS was jailbroken with Previous Version, It created an side switch vibration issue (only for 4.3.3). By the release of this new Version this Bug has been fixed and other than that it also fixes verbose booting for 3GS, and fixed problem for uploading ramdisk in Windows 7.

    Note: There is still no Jailbreak for iPad 2.
    According to iPhone Dev Team:
    PwnageTool and redsn0w have been updated to include a fix for the iPhone3GS/i4 side switch vibration issue (only for 4.3.3!). Thanks to @i0n1c for tracking this down (even though he doesn’t even have an iPhone!).

    If you’re already jailbroken at 4.3.3 (by either redsn0w or custom IPSW), you can install this fix simply by running redsn0w rc16 over your existing jailbreak. Just uncheck the “Install Cydia” option and check any other options you want. The fix will be installed no matter what you’ve selected. This is safe for even ultrasn0w unlockers to do (because redsn0w itself won’t update your baseband…only an iTunes stock IPSW update/restore will do that).

    redsn0w rc16 has a few more improvements: Windows 7 and Vista users should no longer need to set their CPU affinity…just run redsn0w as Administrator in XP compatiblity mode. Also, the “verbose boot” option for old-bootrom iPhone 3GS has been fixed for 4.3.3 (remember: old-bootrom 3GS users can even have custom bootlogos that show right at power-up). Enjoy!

Guide: How to Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad using Redsn0w [Mac/Windows][How to]

    iPhone Dev Team has just released Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC15 and Pwnage Tool 4.3.3 To untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3. Both these Jailbreak tool uses the same 101n1c's Exploit. We have here posted the Guide to Untethered Jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G, 3G, iPad on iOS 4.3.1. The steps shown here are From Windows, But these are the Same steps which you have to Follow on Mac. See our Guide below to Achieve Successful Untethered Jailbreak.

    NOTE: Ultrasn0w unlockers must stay away from redsn0w!  Use only a custom IPSW to update to 4.3.3, to avoid updating your baseband. Use Pwnage Tool 4.3.3 to create Custom IPSW of iOS 4.3.3.
    Note: Redsn0w and Pwnage Tool still doesn't support iPad Jailbreak, So you still have to wait.

    How to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad:

    First you should download the Following before Starting:

    iTunes 10.2.2 (should be installed in your Computer)
    iOS 4.3.3 [Download it to your Desktop]

    Now let's Proceed and Start the Jailbreak:

    Step 1: First of all you have to, Update and restore your iPhone firmware to iOS 4.3.1 using iTunes. Here's how to:
    Open "iTunes" and select your iPhone in sidebar, Windows users press “shift” and restore and browse the  Custom Firmware.
    [Or] *You can skip this step if you’re already running iOS 4.3.1/tethered jailbroken iOS 4.3.1

    Step 2:  Now, Launch Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC15 and Browse for iOS 4.3.3 Fimrware IPSW File.


    Step 3: Now check Cydia and click next.


    Step 4: Please plug your iPhone into the computer and make sure its OFF then click the Next button.


    Step 5: RedSn0w will now guide you on how to put your device in DFU mode. follow the steps carefully till your device get’s into DFU mode.Follow the simple steps to put your Device into DFU Mode:

    iPhone Dev team has just released New version of Redsn0w and Pwnage Tool to Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3. As they have already updated us that they have used the same 10n1c's Exploit in this Jailbreak. So you can now Download Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC15 to Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 on Windows and Mac. Or you can also use Pwnage Tool to Jailbreak only on Mac.
    Note: Redsn0w and Pwnage Tool still doesn't support iPad Jailbreak, So you still have to wait.

    According to iPhone Dev Team:
    three in a row!  Apple released iOS 4.3.3 on Wednesday, and once again the untethered jailbreak exploit that @i0n1c created for 4.3.1 still works.  That makes it an unprecedented three firmwares where the same userland exploit works.  We’re not exactly sure why Apple hasn’t fixed the hole yet, but we’re not complaining!
    Today’s PwnageTool and redsn0w incorporate @i0n1c’s port to 4.3.3 (it’s ironic that such a long-lasting untether doesn’t even have an official name!).  It also of course uses geohot’s limera1n bootrom exploit to inject the jailbreak.  The 4.3.3 untether works on all devices that actually support 4.3.3 except for the iPad2:
    • iPhone3GS
    • iPhone4 (GSM)
    • iPod touch 3G
    • iPod touch 4G
    • iPad1
    • AppleTV2G (v4.3 8F202)
    Some things to note:
    1. ultrasn0w unlockers must stay away from redsn0w!  Use only a custom IPSW to update to 4.3.3, to avoid updating your baseband.
    2. ultrasn0w has been updated to v1.2.3 to be compatible with iOS 4.3.3 and earlier (the ultrasn0w update does not include any new baseband support!). Please reboot your iPhone using the normal “slide to power off” swipe after installing ultrasn0w 1.2.3.
    3. By popular demand, redsn0w now allows you to enable multitasking gestures (although most will find it useful only on iPads).
    4. iPad2 update:  The iPad2 jailbreak remains under development.  As you may know, the original exploit @comex developed in the first week of the iPad2 release was mysteriously fixed by Apple within days of its development.  Partly because of this, don’t expect much public discussion of the iPad2 jailbreak until it’s actually finished and ready for release (and please avoid asking about it).  In all liklihood, it will be a userland exploit like the first (unreleased) one, not dependent on bootrom dumps.  The first one can’t be released even for those with the original 4.3 firmware due to legal (distribution) reasons.

    iPhone Dev Team has now released the new Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC13b to Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. This new Redsn0w uses the same 10n1c's Exploit which was used to Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1. And again this is to inform you that, This Redsn0w Again won't be able to Untethered Jailbreak your iPad 2, so iPad 2 users have to wait until an safe Jailbreak has been released for it.

    Only a few weeks after the 4.3.1 untether created by @i0n1c was released, Apple pushed out firmware 4.3.2. Thankfully, it appears Apple didn’t have a chance to fix the hole used by @i0n1c’s untether, so he ported his code over to 4.3.2’s kernel. Today’s redsn0w has been updated to include it.

    The 4.3.2 untether works on all devices that actually support 4.3.2 except for the iPad2:

    iPhone3GS
    iPhone4 (GSM) iPhone4 users please wait for a pending fix
    iPod touch 3G
    iPod touch 4G
    iPad1


    As always, ultrasn0w unlockers should stay away from redsn0w and only update their firmware through a custom IPSW. We’ll release a new version of PwnageTool sometime this week.

    Note that many people are currently having problems updating to 4.3.2 through saurik’s server. You’ll need to remove the gs.apple.com entry in your hosts file in order to restore directly to Apple’s servers.

    Another RC(release candidate) of Redsn0w has just been released by iPhine Dev Team. This new Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC 12 fixed boot animation issues and other Numerous Bugs are also fixed with it. You can now Untethered Jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad with this on Both Mac And Windows.
    Note: Untethered Jailbreak on iOS 4.3.1 for iPad is not yet released, it can't be Jailbroken with this version of Redsn0w. As soon as Untethered Jailbreak for iPad 2 is released we'll update you.

    Here is the Changelog with Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC12:
    Those running redsn0w may have noticed we enabled too many Settings options in some versions of the jailbreak (for instance, what you want your side switch to do, even if you have no side switch because you’re not using an iPad). Release rc10 rc12 of redsn0w corrects that (you can just run it over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).

    Along the way, we’ve also added the option to enable boot animations…these animations can be installed via Cydia, but be sure to select which animation to use via the Settings->Bootlogo setting after you’ve downloaded an animation (and again, you can just run rc10 rc12 over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).

    (The boot animation we tested against was “Android Boot Logo”. It correctly installs all the dependencies needed to run the animation at each boot).

You can only Untethered Jailbreak iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4G, 3G, iPad and Apple TV 2G (FW 4.3) on iOS 4.3 and iOS 4.3.1. We have posted download links for both Redsn0w and Pwnage Tool.

    i0n1c has just posted a video on Youtube showing the Alpha Untethered Jailbroken iPad on iOS 4.3. So this is an Evidence that Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.3 will drop soon. This Untethered Jailbreak is still in "testing Mode" but it will soon hit Public.i0nic is not a member of Any DevTeam , and he's the only person who have the Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.3. Exploit which he have might end up on Redsn0w.

    According to i0n1c, this untethered jailbreak is still in Alpha because:
    not all required kernel patches are in it, yet.

    Few days back Greenpois0n RC5 was launched to jailbreak your iDevice ( iPod Touch, iPhone 3G/4 and iPad)  on iOS 4.2.1 . Just a while ago , Chronic Dev Team Member, Pod2G has just announced in a tweet mentioned to MuscleNerd,  that the entire Greenpois0n RC5 project will become open source soon after 1 week they release the win32 build. This means that the source code of the tool for the jailbreak will be made available to the developers so they can study the tool and find , the way it works, or may be edit it to update for themselves.



    The news, however is more beneficial to the renown hackers of the iPhone Dev Team, as they will be able to update there jailbreak tools, that is Redsn0w and the Pwnage Tool and will be able to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 using untethered iOS exploit used in Greenpois0n RC5.

    Chronic Dev Team released GreenPois0n RC5 to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 untethered. Pod2g (Chronic Dev Team member) has post some note in his twitter account. It’s important to know before you proceed with Untethered Jailbreak of iOS 4.2.1 using Greenpois0n RC5.
    Below is the full note that have been published by Pod2g about Greenpois0n RC5 iOS 4.2.1 Untethered Jailbreak:

    > Description of the software:

    greenpois0n will Jailbreak your iDevice.

    > Supported iDevices:

    - iPod Touch 2G (all bootroms)
    - iPod Touch 3G
    - iPod Touch 4G
    - iPad 1G
    - iPhone 3Gs (all bootroms)
    - iPhone 4
    - iPhone 4 Verizon (_not_tested_)
    - AppleTV 2

    > Requirements (check this !)

    - a supported device (see above)
    - the device should run iOS 4.2.1. Please check on the device in the Settings -> General -> About page.
    If your device is running an older version, please upgrade iOS first using iTunes.

    3. start greenpois0n.app

    5. the device will boot a 1st time with verbose text on screen. This operation will install the jailbreak on the device.
    6. the device will reboot normally
    7. start the Loader application (green icon on the SpringBoard), and follow instructions to install Cydia

    Another Beta version of Redsn0w has been released by iPhone Dev-Team. Redsn0w0.9.7b6 fixes more Bugs, and it do more stable Untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak. But again it's not for Windows users, this is only for MAC. Redsn0w 0.9.7b6 fixes the Skype issue.  Along with Skype fixes Redsn0w 0.9.7b6 will also warns users about not to pirate iOS 4.2 beta 3 and only users with Apple developers account can download it.
    According to iPhone Dev-Team Blog:
    Update #6:  The sixth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!).  This version fixes Skype.  Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW!  Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW using these links (the links won’t work unless you’re a legit developer currently logged in).
    Unlike the last few betas, you can freely run beta6 over beta5 without a problem (but for testing purposes, we’d really like people to try both ways….from stock, and from already jailbroken).

    iPhone Dev Team has released another beta Testing Version of their Untethered Jailbreak of iOS 4.2.1 RedSn0w 0.9.7b5. This Beta fixes Bluetooth bugs found in earlier betas (and any sandbox-related issues should be resolved too). Sorry for all Windows users, RedSn0w untethered for Windows is still in the works and iPhone Dev Team will not release it in the Beta versions. Windows version of RedSn0w 0.9.7b5 is very slow that’s why iPhone Dev Team will not released until it gets speed up.

    From iPhone Dev Team Official Blog:
    The fifth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!).  Bluetooth is now working (and any sandbox-related issues should be resolved too).  Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW.
    There is actually a Windows version of beta5, but it’s excruciatingly slow compared to the Mac version because it’s forced to use files on your hard drive instead of RAM while it’s processing the very large IPSW images.  It really is very very painfully slow, so we probably won’t be releasing it for testing purposes unless it can be sped up somehow.
